The following email was received from one of our classified advertisers:
Hi we were just scammed from a reply to your website for a purchase of my car from a gentleman in South Africa. His modus was to say he will buy the car for the price but wants to send an additional 4000.oo to cover shipping charges and his fee. He want s you to send him the funds back to Africa via wire, in essence he sent me a check for 9500.00 car price 5500.00. Once you receive the check he bombards you with messages and calls to please send funds right away. I would not and told him the check needs to clear. 3 days later his check bounced on a closed acct. He apologized and said his client sent wrong check, I demanded a money order or cashiers check. In two weeks a cashiers check arrived on a bank of America draft. It was deposited but I had not let him know right away it had arrived. The check was a counterfeited and the authorities have been notified. I am out only 6.00 dollars from this transaction, but think it best if you let all clients selling from your site, in on this latest scam. best to you A... R... |
